The Power is in the Panel

The Power Is In The Panel
Imagine you come home late one night and notice from your driveway that some of the lights in your house are not working. You step inside and flip on the kitchen switch….no light. Same thing happens in the living room and dining room….no lights whatsoever. What do you do? Would you get “temporary relief” by using a flashlight or candle in these rooms for the next twenty years? Would you immediately change all the light bulbs in every room? Of course not.
The quickest, wisest and easiest solution is to go to your breaker panel! Then, you simply scan down the breakers and look for any that are “flipped” out of place. Next, you simply switch those breakers back into the “on” position and whalla….lights are on. Now, the interesting part is the light comes on far from the breaker panel itself. In other words, when you flip the kitchen switch, the effect or the actual light may come on 30, 40 or 50 feet from the fuse box itself. POWER IS ON!
This is a great analogy for what we do in this office. Where is the breaker box for your body? Your spine of course. Each individual spinal bone is like the breakers in your house. When the breaker in your house flips it shuts down the electricity or power to wherever those electrical wires go. The same thing is true with your spine. Your spine flips (misaligns or subluxates) and it shuts down, slows down, interferes with or irritates the nerve flow throughout your body.
What causes our spine to flip out of alignment in the first place? The answer is stress or anything that overwhelms our system. Think back to the breaker panel in your house...it flips when there is too much stress on a particular current; too much juice or energy is being drawn and the individual breakers will flip out of place to shut itself down and protect the overall system from short circuiting. Your spine does the same thing! Isn’t that amazing? Chronic physical, mental or chemical stress overwhelms your system and the spine will shift to preserve and protect you.
How do we fix that? We feel down your spine and find the ones that are flipped and adjust them back (just like you do with your breaker box at home). Then, most importantly, we get out of the way and let your POWER FLOW!
So, from now on, think of us as YOUR natural electric company...keeping the juice flowing and the POWER ON!

Got Sleep???

Got Sleep???
Everyone has an occasional “rough” night’s sleep...toss and turn, toss and turn. But if this happens too often there may be something you can do to fix it. Check the list below and try to incorporate as many of these techniques as you can.
1) No TV right before bed. Even better, get the TV out of the bedroom or even out of the house, completely. It is too stimulating to the brain and it will take longer to fall asleep. Also TV is disruptive of pineal gland function for the same reason as above.
2) Read something spiritual or religious. This will help to relax you. Don’t read anything stimulating, such as a mystery or suspense novel, as this may have the opposite effect. In addition, if you are really enjoying a suspenseful book, you might wind up unintentionally reading for hours, instead of going to sleep.
3) Breathe, relax, and/or meditate right before getting into bed. Sit on the floor or a comfortable chair. Close your eyes. Be silent. Breathe for at last 5 full minutes.
4) Wear socks to bed. Due to the fact that they have the poorest circulation, the feet often feel cold before the rest of the body. A study has shown that this reduces night wakings.
5) Sleep in complete darkness or as close as possible. When light hits the eyes, it disrupts the circadian rhythm of the pineal gland and production of melatonin and seratonin. There also should be as little light in the bathroom as possible if you get up in the middle of the night.
6) Avoid before-bed snacks, particularly grains and sugars. This will raise blood sugar and inhibit sleep. Later, when blood sugar drops too low (hypoglycemia), you might wake up and not be able to fall back asleep.
7) Journaling. If you often lay in bed with your mind racing, it might be helpful to keep a journal and write down your thoughts before bed.
8) Keep the temperature in the bedroom no higher than 70 degrees. Many people keep their homes and particularly the upstairs bedrooms too hot.
9) Reduce or avoid as many drugs as possible. Many medications, both prescription and over-the-counter affect your biochemistry and affect your quality of sleep.
10) Avoid caffeine. A recent study showed that in some people, caffeine is not metabolized efficiently and therefore they can feel the effects long after consuming it.
11) Take a hot bath, shower or sauna before bed. When body temperature is raised in the late evening, it will fall at bedtime, facilitating sleep.
12) Don’t drink any fluids within 2 hours of going to bed. This will reduce the likelihood of needing to get up and go to the bathroom or at least minimize the frequency.
13) Keep your bed for sleeping. If you are used to watching TV or doing work in bed, you may find it harder to relax and to think of the bed as a place to sleep.
14) Listen to White Noise or Relaxation CDs. Some people find the sound of white noise or nature sounds, such as the ocean or forest, to be soothing for sleep.
15) Daily exercise or physical activity. Exercising for at least 30 minutes everyday can help you fall asleep. Move your body daily. It doesn’t have to be intense exercise but just move your body every day. However, don’t exercise too close to bedtime or it may keep you awake. Try exercising in the morning, afternoon or early evening instead.
16) Don’t force it. If you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, get out of bed for a while. Stop forcing yourself to sleep. It never works! When you feel tired again, get back in bed and go to sleep.
We love and appreciate you!!!

The priceless bank account: If you had a bank that credited your account each morning with $86,400.00, that carried over no balance from day to day, and allowed you to keep no cash in your account, and every evening canceled the amount you had failed to use during the day, what would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!
Well, you have such a bank and its name is “time.” Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. It carries over no balances. It allows no overdrafts. Each day it opens a new account with you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow.” You must live the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!
Some people commit suicide quickly by jumping off a building or cutting their wrists. Others do it more slowly through stress, smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs, over the counter medication, prescription drugs, surgery and most importantly no Chiropractic care for their nerve system. IT’S STILL SUICIDE!
· To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who has failed a grade or someone who only has one year left to live.
· To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
· To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
· To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer who lost a day’s pay and has kids to feed.
· To realize the value ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
· To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who has missed the train.
· To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who has avoided an accident.
· To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who has just won a silver medal in the Olympics.
· To realize the value of ONE INSTANT, ask the Chiropractor who just released the LIFE trapped by a bone on a nerve.
People who say they do not have the time to take care of their health are absolutely right.
CHERISH EVERY MOMENT. Chiropractic helps you take care of the TODAYS so you can take care of the TOMORROWS...TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE!!

The Year There Almost Wasn't Christmas

The Year There Almost Wasn’t Christmas
T’was the night before Christmas
But Santa could not be found.
There were no jingle bells or reindeer sound.
There were to be no toys under trees, for Santa was sick,
There would be no holiday blessings from the once jolly St. Nick.
The children were saddened and no laughter sounded,
Christmas was here but Santa was grounded.
As the elves wandered helplessly what did they see?
A great big sign with the letters Falite, D.C.
Now they knew Santa was not one to try a new tactic,
But since medicine had failed they talked him into trying Chiropractic.
Santa entered the office with a smile and a nod,
There was no mistaking this place was of God.
The children were playing and as far as he could tell,
Everyone left there smiling and well.
In no time at all, just a few tics of the clock,
He was in the exam room talking to the doc.
“It must be my age, the stress, and all of the travel,
I’m feeling my health starting to unravel.
It used to be easy carrying dolls and trains to girls and lads,
Now they want computers, Wii games, and iPads.
If you looked in my sleigh at the size of my pack,
I’m sure you would tell me it ruins my back.”
The loving Chiropractor checked Santa’s spine,
And found he was out of balance and had several bones out of line.
Santa committed to being adjusted for the duration,
The moment he learned he had life-threatening Subluxation.
He got on the table and then lickity-split,
The Doc started adjusting the ailing St. Nick.
When Santa was finished, his imbalance was gone,
The Chiropractor told him “Your Power Is On!”
Once again Santa flowed with love and good cheer,
Now that his spine and nerve system were clear.
He shouldered his bag and jumped into his sleigh,
Thinking it had been centuries since he felt this way.
Then he shouted, “I’ll bring in Mrs. Kringle and the elves to get checked before the first of the year,
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD YEAR!”
**************
Remember this at Christmas time:
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year. Males drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to December. Females retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring. Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa’s reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolf to Blitzen, had to be a girl. We should’ve known...only women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost!

Aspirin
Posted: Nov 16, 2011 • By: Drs. Dawn & Michael Falite •
Aspirin
You can buy a bottle of aspirin in any drug store or supermarket. Turn on the television and you can see ads touting the benefits of this “wonder drug” for everything from headache relief to preventing heart attacks. In fact, people in the U.S. have been so brainwashed into believing that aspirin can cure anything that we regularly consume 80 million aspirins per day!!! Are you contributing to this number? If you are, you need to get the facts straight before you pop another tablet.
Aspirin, like any drug, has side effects. 10,000 people die every year due to NSAID’s (aspirin, Tylenol, Advil). One of the main problems with aspirin is it causes thinning of the blood. This nearly always causes a loss of blood through the stomach and intestinal linings. Additionally, Reye’s syndrome (swelling of the brain), first identified in the 1960’s, is linked to aspirin use in children. According to the Merck Manual, a standard reference in health care, “the use of aspirin in children under 18 is considered dangerous because of its predisposition to development of Reye’s syndrome.”
Bayer Pharmaceuticals would have you believe that taking an aspirin a day will prevent heart attacks. This is not the whole story. Their research did not conclusively prove that this is true. The claim was based on a study showing a marginal benefit for men, aged 55 to 65, who had a history of heart attack. This was a small study on a specific group of people. However, because of some clever marketing, mass numbers of Americans foolishly take aspirin every day in the hopes of preventing a heart attack. Of course, Bayer is now enjoying an tremendous increase in profits. In December 1998, The Washington Postpublished an article outlining the dangers of taking aspirin. The article noted that the FDA is concerned because of the increase in hemorrhagic stroke in people taking aspirin. This type of stroke accounts for 25% of all strokes. While the aspirin thins the blood and can prevent clotting, it also can cause uncontrollable bleeding in the brain and elsewhere.
There is no magic pill, potion, or lotion that can guarantee your health. We all have to take responsibility for our bodies and do what we can to ensure a long, healthy, happy life. Nature did not intend for us to have to take drugs to stay healthy and vibrant. Get adjusted, eat well, exercise, and obey the natural laws of health and your body will reward you for it!

Fluoride
Posted: Nov 9, 2011 • By: Drs. Dawn & Michael Falite •
Fluoride: In our water? In our toothpaste? What are we thinking?
Most people don’t think twice before drinking a glass of fluoridated water or using fluoride toothpaste. After reading this, you will probably decide to change some of your habits. We want you to know the truth about fluoride and how it came to be so commonly used.
One of the most common forms of fluoride is sodium fluoride, which by definition is “a poisonous crystalline salt (NaF) that is used in trace amounts in the fluoridation of water, in metallurgy, and as a pesticide.” This same fluoride salt is the active ingredient in many rodent poisons! Yuck!
Obviously this is very toxic to your body. It can kill you outright due to an overdose or accumulate over time in your glands and fat tissues. The thyroid gland collects twice as much fluoride as any other organ in the body. The National Toxicology Group found that some of the rarest cancers were caused by the ingestion of fluoride. If you look at a poison index, you will discover that fluoride is considered more toxic than lead and only slightly less toxic than arsenic!
So how did it end up in our water and toothpaste? It’s a very interesting saga. The fluoride story began in the late 1920’s. A very powerful family, the Mellons, owned an aluminum production company called Alco Aluminum. They were having a problem with a waste by-product of the aluminum production. This waste by-product is the metallic form of fluoride. The aluminum plants were producing hundreds of thousands of tons of metallic fluoride per year. Andrew Mellon wanted to find a good and profitable use for fluoride so his company wouldn’t be forced to dispose of it all as toxic waste.
Then, Mellon heard about a small city in Texas that had NATURALLY OCCURRING fluoride in its water supply. This was attracting some attention because it was also noticed that its citizens had a lower incidence of dental caries as compared to other communities. Mellon used his immense political influence to set up a new government board called the Department of Natural Health. And get this, he even placed his own lawyer as the head of this new federal department!
Now they needed some “proof” that metallic fluoride (the waste by-product of their aluminum production not naturally occurring!) was beneficial in reducing tooth decay. Mellon’s researchers designed a study involving two New York cities. Metallic fluoride was added to the public water system of Newburg, while the water supply of Kingston was left untouched. The results were not what the researchers had hoped for. In Newburg (fluoridated water) the rate of dental caries was 63%. In Kingston (no fluoride) the rate was 42%. So the fluoridated city actually had MORE cavities!
This study was originally designed to run 10 years. However, after 4 years of watching the fluoride-free cityhave less and less cavities, Mellon’s researchers did just what you’d expect them to do - NOT! They quickly stopped the study and proclaimed fluoridation to be a success. At this point, fluoridation was promoted across the country without a single studyshowing it to be safe or effective when taken internally. The bottom line is Mellon needed to find a profitable use for all their toxic and excess fluoride! The fact that the fluoridated city had more cavities did not matter to them.
Want more proof that fluoride is toxic? It is so acidic that it severely corrodes lead pipes and almost any metal in general. It can eat through a 1” iron pipe in a fluoridated water system in a matter of months. When the city of Thurmond, MD shut down its fluoridation pumps for repairs, they noticed up to a 78% decrease of lead in the tap water! They decided not to use the fluoridation pumps anymore. The same thing happened in Tacoma, WA. When they shut down their pumps, they experienced a 50% decrease in lead levels.
What about your toothpaste? In one study, 45 - 135 parts per million of sodium fluoride caused changes in DNA synthesis (i.e. produces dis-eased tissues) in just 4 hours! Sodium fluoride is the same form of fluoride used in most toothpastes (and rat poison). However, what is alarming is that the dose of fluoride in toothpaste or mouthwash is 23 times higherthan those used in this experiment. How toxic is that?!?
What is a person to do? First, you can purchase a water distiller or reverse osmosis system for your home. A counter-top distiller can be purchased at Sears for only $120. Secondly, stop using fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash! There are multiple brands of fluoride-free toothpaste and mouthwashes found at any health food store. Nature’s Gate has some great toothpaste flavors (wintergreen gel and cream of peppermint). We don’t recommend not brushing!
Eliminating fluoride from your family’s life is just one more way to help you be healthy. This is a carcinogen that any body can do without. Let’s face it. Does it make sense that a toxic substance can provide a health benefit? Nature never intended for us to be ingesting all this fluoride!

Balance is Basic!
When in his eighties, Professor Raymond Dart,
world famous anatomist, brain researcher,
and anthropologist
was asked to sum up his life’s work.
Rising to his feet, he exclaimed,
“There is only one message.”
“You must tell people to
balance their brains and balance their bodies.
The future lies with the balanced human!”
A positive state of balance offers
a vital key to high performance,
harmonious living,
and inner peace.
Balance is the ideal, naturally poised
human state.

Normal vs. Common
Posted: Oct 28, 2011 • By: Drs. Dawn & Michael Falite •
Normal vs. Common
Do you know the difference?
As you may know, we are actively involved in our community. We participate in all types of community functions such as fairs, church events, women expos, kid expos, etc. These events give us the opportunity to teach people about the amazing benefits of chiropractic and answer questions about their health.
One thing that has become painfully obvious to me is most peoples complete misunderstanding of “what is common” and “what is normal.” For example, at these events someone will invariably ask, “yes, but doesn’t everyone have subluxations?” I then have to patiently explain that subluxations are common and most people are subluxated but it is notnormal!! That is a huge difference!!
Please review the following examples to help further clarify things that are common but not normal:
1. One out of 2 people die of heart disease in this country. This is COMMON BUT NOT NORMAL. In the early 1900’s, heart disease was almost non-existent!
2.One out of 3 people die of cancer. This is COMMON BUT NOT NORMAL. In 1930, 1 in 6000 people got cancer! 65% - 80% of all cancer is preventable through improved lifestyle—Dr. Barry Levin.
3. 60% of all drugs are prescribed off-label—American Health Congress Report. Off-label means a drug was invented and FDA approved for a particular disease but the drug actually gets prescribed and pushed for entirely different reasons. For example, after a few years on the market, a new arthritis drug is shown to clear up acne. Now MD’s prescribe the drug to teenagers with acne. No further testing, no research, unknown side effects...on teenagers! Remember, the drug saswas only FDA approved for arthritis.
4. Medical malpractice kills 180,000 people per year. This is COMMON BUT NOT NORMAL. Dr. Leopold Leap, Harvard Medical School.
5. Medical right-practice kills 120,000 people per year. This is COMMON BUT NOT NORMAL. Through properlyprescribed and administered prescription medicine—Journal of American Medical Association.
6. In the U.S., 15% of all kids are overweight and/or obese. This is COMMON BUT NOT NORMAL.
7. Childhood diabetes has been estimated to have increased ten-fold in the last decade. HOW COULD THIS BE NORMAL?
8. A John Hopkins study labeled T.V. viewing as the number one leisure-time activity of most school-age children. DEFINITELY COMMON BUT DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL!
Hopefully, the distinction between normal and common is now obvious. Never settle for anything that is common—odds are if it’s common it’s unhealthy, un-wealthy, and unwise!
We love and appreciate you!!!
